When do you have to broadcast an electronic invoice?
The issue of electronic invoices ... what is a headache (or lifeguard, depending on who you ask) for any company that wants to get into public tenders. Today, if your company wants to do business with the government, forget about the role: you have to electronically invoice yes or yes. The law does not give much room to get out of the tangent.
Electronic invoice? Basically, it is the same as always, only digital. It has the same legal weight, but now lives on your computer (or in the cloud, if you like to sound Fancy). It serves to record that you delivered something or you gave a service, but without accumulating mountains of paper.
If your business sells things or provides services to any public office, prepare to issue electronic invoices. It doesn't matter if you won the largest tender in the country or you only sold a package of leaves to the mayor's office in your neighborhood, the rule applies the same. And now, in a lot of places, it doesn't even matter if your client is public or private: the electronic invoice is every day's bread. The reason? Well, it is faster, you save trees, and the SAT (or the fiscal entity of your country) has everything at hand for when you want to make you a surprise audit. Great, right?
Time also has its trick. As a rule, the electronic invoice goes just after delivering the product or finishing the service. But be careful, each tender can have its tricks. There are contracts that ask you to bill before, others later ... so you have to read the small letter.
Not complying with these rules can be expensive. From fines until you are out of future tenders, and believe me, the government does not tempt your heart. So it is better to be the shot.
The good part? Carrying your accounts becomes much easier. With electronic invoices, you can see who owes you, how much they owe you and since when. Less papers, less chaos, and more time to drink coffee (or whatever you like).
Anyway, if your company pulls you to work with the public sector, the electronic invoice is not optional. You have to know when to issue it, how, and make sure that the system you use complies with all the rules. Because, if not, then don't say anyone notified you.
