Talk to a public procurement expert Shall we talk?

What role does the circular economy play in public contracts?

Contract Execution

The circular economy, honestly, is like that ready friend who always finds a second life for everything you have at home. When we talk about public contracts, its role is not less; On the contrary, it is key. Instead of throwing and buying again, the idea is to squeeze each resource to the maximum, lower the consumption of new things and, incidentally, not fill everything with garbage. Basically, public contracts should come with the "non -waste, recycle and take another turn."

Let's see, administrations have brutal power because they are one of the biggest buyers that exist. If they begin to demand more circular products, the market puts the batteries very quickly. Do you want to sell to the State? Well, you will have to start thinking about products that last, that can be fixed and that do not end in the landfill to the first failure.

And be careful, it's not just putting a "eco-friendly" sticker and now. Contract sheets may require from recycled materials until the design allows to disassemble and reuse parts. They can even ask that the product, when it does not work anymore, can be returned or recycled. It is a Win-Win: less impact on the planet and, in addition, the companies that are espabilized with this usually have an advantage when it is time to compete for contracts.

Ah, and not everything is talking about sustainability. There are contracts that put clauses so that the supplier does not disregard after selling. Did the machine break? Well, come to repair or update it, so you don't have to buy another right away. And if we talk about innovation, I don't even tell you: you can ask for fresh solutions, models where you pay for use and not for owner, or even bet on tip technology that reduces waste.

In a nutshell: the circular economy is not just a fashion, it is an intelligent play in public procurement. It allows to save resources, pushes companies to improve and, incidentally, take care of the planet a little more. Of course, you have to know what the story is about not to stay out of the game when tenders come out. If companies catch these principles, they have half a way.
