What is the drug supply contract?

Contract Execution

Ok, let's go to the point and without so much academic rodeo.

The drug supply contract is basically a deal between the government (that is, public hospitals and others) and the pharmaceutical companies or distributors. What is this for? Well, so that medications or health material in hospitals, health centers and other sites where people are going to heal. So simple. Without these contracts, imagine chaos ... empty hospital pharmacies, doctors making juggling and pissed off patients (rightly).

These contracts are vital for the public sector, because without them, neither hospitals nor health centers could function as God commands. And of course, for pharmaceutical companies it is a round business: large contracts, safe payments (in theory), and the possibility of becoming a place in the public sector.

Legally, all this has its crumb. Medication supply contracts are not signed that way, but are super regulated by the public procurement laws of each country. In Spain, for example, everything is in the famous Public Sector Contract Law, which comes to say how to tender, award, execute and control these contracts. No scams, at least in theory.

There are different ways to achieve one of these contracts: sometimes a public tender is made (and that wins the best), other times it is a negotiated procedure (more roll "you and I know what we want") or even direct award, which is basically by finger. It all depends on the context and what the administration needs.

For companies that want to launch this, you have to be very attentive to the regulations and not lose detail of the requirements. That if the award criteria, that if the deadlines, that if the contractor's obligations, that when they pay you ... it is a world. Ah, and be careful, because these contracts are usually long, and you need to have well -greased logistics not to put the leg and run out of halfway. Having a plan B is not bad either, because unforeseen events appear when you least expect it.

In short, the drug supply contract is key for public health not to come down. For companies, it can be a bargain, but there is also a lot of small print and responsibilities that you cannot take light. So, if you want to get into this, you better have a good strategy and understand the land where you are getting. It is not for beginners.
