What is batch tender?

Basic Concepts

Ok, I'm going to talk to you about batch tender without such formal return or that boring manual tone. Look, the roll is like this: when the government or some public entity wants to buy things or services, sometimes it does not do everything in a giant package, but divides it into smaller parts, which they call “lots”. Then, companies can present offers only for the lots that interest them or that can really handle. That is, you do not have to be a mega -enterprise to participate, which is great for SMEs and those that just start.

Why do this? Easy: so that there are more competition and do not always win the same as always. Separating the contract into pieces, more companies can get into the game, and that in the end can mean better prices and more options for the one you buy. You imagine, if a single company does everything, you play it to fail and you run out of anything, but if you distribute, the risk is diluted.

And by the way, this is not something that were invented yesterday. There is a European directive (2014/24/EU, in case someone likes the legal) that basically tells public entities: "They hear, divide in lots when they can, and if they do not, explain why." This is for SMEs not to stay out and have a chance to grab part of the cake.

Another thing: for those who want to offer, you have to be battered with the tender documents. There they will tell you if you can present offers for a single lot, for several, or if they ask you to make a combined offer. And be careful, sometimes they can give you only one of the lots you asked for, or several, it depends on how the awards are put that day.

In summary, batch tender is how to distribute the cake so that more eats, not just the usual ones. It serves both those who buy and those who sell, especially to the smallest companies. And yes, you have to read the rules and prepare well, because although it sounds simple, getting lost in the papers is easier than it seems.
