What is DEUC and when is it mandatory?
Ok, let's go to the point. The unique European hiring document, or DEUC for friends, is basically the master key when you want to get into the world of public tenders in the European Union. What is it for? It is a kind of affidavit where companies say "hey, I fulfill the requirements and I have no stain that prevents me from competing." All very formalite, but summarized in a single role.
The grace of the DEUC is that it takes away a lot of paperwork. Before, each company had to walk a thousand papers to prove that it was suitable. Now, with this document, you make a self -ercification and ready, at least in the entrance. It is a vote of trust, such as when you let someone enter your house without asking the DNI at the door ... although the same then plays to check.
Of course, it is not optional. If the public tender passes the limits marked by the 2014/24/EU Directive (which has a robot name, but it is the one that sends in this), using the DEUC is mandatory. And, be careful, although the tender is smaller, the entity can ask for it the same if you want.
An important detail: if you present yourself as part of a group of companies, each one has to fill their own DEUC. Nothing that one takes care of everything and the others look. The same if you want to subcontract someone: each subcontractor must have their death a day.
Now, do not emotions: DEUC is only a preliminary statement. As soon as you advance in the process, they will surely ask you for more papers to verify that you are not throwing a lantern. So, yes, it saves you time at the beginning, but it does not free you from the bureaucracy one hundred percent.
And please, do not even think of lying in the DEUC. If they catch you inventing data, the legal consequences can be serious. Better not tempt luck.
In summary: DEUC is a useful shortcut for not getting lost among mountains of papers when you want to compete in public contracts in the EU. Of course, be honest and prepare to show more documentation if they ask for it later. It is not magic, but it helps a lot.
