Talk to a public procurement expert Shall we talk?

When should it present improvements?

Basic Concepts

Putting improvements to a public tender, sometimes, is the trick to shine between the pile and take the contract. But be careful, it is not always convenient to launch crazy. You have to know when it is worth investing time and resources, because it is not a plan to work for free.

When I talk about "improvements", I mean everything: from adjusting the price, reducing the delivery period, raising quality, or putting some extra cool that others do not offer. But, again, that of launching improvements is not always the winning play. There are times when it makes sense, and others where you do not even move.

For example, if the tender is very fought, with a lot of companies offering more or less the same, there - putting some improvement can be the difference. It is like the typical talent contest: if everyone sing the same, the one that Maracas brings stands out.

Also, if your company can improve the quality of the product or service without wooling, why not? Many people believe that the only thing that counts is the price, but the net, many times the quality weighs more than one thinks.

Another: if the contract is long term, there it is convenient to show off. The improvements can help you gain the confidence of the public client and, hopefully, they call you again for other contracts. Public relations, but seriously.

Now, not everything is honey on flakes. If you promise improvements, make sure you can meet. Nothing to promise the moon and then not reach the roof. If the watering, prepare for the sanctions, that public contracts do not walk with games.

Before making any promise, the sheet of conditions is very checked. There are tenders where they do not even let you present improvements, or where the rules are so closed that you do not even try.

In short: Yes, the improvements can be your golden ticket, but only if you analyze the stage well. Look what the competition does, check your capabilities, read the sheet with magnifying glass and then, decide whether you let's gain or better keep your aces for another occasion.
