How to improve the competitiveness of an SME in tender?

Basic Concepts

The truth, if SMEs do not put the batteries with public tenders, basically a lot of opportunities are being lost. It is not just a matter of wanting to grow, if they do not enter the game, another takes the prize. And here there are no magical formulas, but several tricks and strategies that honestly make a difference.

First the first: you have to be at the shot with all the info. It is no use wanting to participate if you don't even know what they ask or when you have to deliver the papers. So, it's time to be stuck to newsletters, official websites, and all those tendering platforms. It sounds like a can, but it is.

Then, the issue of the proposal ... nothing to make a copy or send anything. You have to curb it. If your company does not show that it can with the contract, which has experience and that, above, offers a good price, then forget it. Of course, we must not fill with rare technicalities that nobody understands. Better go to the point and make clear why you are the best bidder.

Now, if the tender is one of the greats, do not make the hero. Army a good consortium or looking for allies can make a difference. Two heads think better than one, and, in addition, add muscle to compete with fat fish. Incidentally, something of the partners is always learned.

What else? It never hurts to invest in improving. Train people, catch new technology, polish processes ... All of that adds points when they evaluate you. It is not just because of the contract, it is that you are doing better company, point.

Eye with the legal, that there are no shortcuts. Everything in order: labor issues, environment, security, taxes ... If you catch you, you stay out, that simple.

And if the issue of tenders gives you a headache, hires someone who knows. An experienced advisor can save your life (and the contract), because it knows where the matter is going and guides you throughout the process.

Anyway, if SMEs want to stand out in public tenders, it is not enough to love: you have to move, know what is done, surround yourself with good people and not fall asleep in the laurels. He who does not risk does not win.
